Vintage Gobur Carousel 10/2 Slimline Folding Caravan & Full Awning (1983 Model)

Hello - You are looking at pictures of my beloved Gobur Carousel folding caravan made in 1983. Weighing in at just over 500kg and with a maximum laden weight of 800kg this is retro caravanning that will not break the bank. This is a slimline Carousel 10/2 meaning that it is just 10 feet long, 5 feet wide and 4 feet 6 inches high when folded.

It is light and very easy to move around there are four grab handles and the caravan takes little effort to shift - ideal where access is tight or if you want to store inside a garage.

A brand new Gobur Carousel 10/2 with awning would today cost just over £ 15,000.

I contacted Gobur a while ago and they informed me that this caravan was one of the very first Carousel Folding caravans that they made as the production run began in 1983. When I purchased the Carousel it had been unused for a number of years and it was in a poor state. The whole caravan was scrubbed and cleaned - I also changed everything that was in poor condition or broken.

The caravan is only just as wide as a car and when folded it is about 4 feet 6 inches high so it has very low wind resistance fuel economy is high and as the caravan has a low centre of gravity it is much less likely to "snake" when buffeted by large vehicles. When assembled the caravan has approx 6 feet 2 inches of headroom and has the following features:

The previous owner had installed 240 volt supply and fitted two double sockets. I have purchased a twin fuse consumer panel with RCBs but it will need fitting by a suitable tradesman.

The caravan is very easy to assemble single handed as the roof is partly supported by the gas rams that do most of the lifting. I have been able to assemble and set up the caravan completely from scratch in about 20 minutes.

As an added bonus this carousel comes with a complete side awning - I have never used it but I was told by Gobur that it would be very easy to assemble as it was an early version. Please remember that this is a desirable little caravan and being nearly 30 years old she has some minor dinks as you would expect from the years of use.

Basically a sound little Gobur Carousel 10/2 Caravan that you can hitch up and drive away with. All of the lights function properly and the tyres are in good order the handbrake works correctly.
